Privacy, cookies and data use

Solar Britain is a UK commercial solar PV specialist. We provide indicative estimates and introductions to technical and finance partners. For any question about your data, email Quote@SolarBritain.com.

• Details you give us. Name, business name, email, phone, postcode, property type and project notes submitted through the contact form, the calculator, guide downloads or the Solange chat.
• Usage analytics. Pages viewed, guides read, calculator starts, form submissions and chat interactions, together with a random visitor identifier stored in your browser. This is first-party and used to understand which content is useful.
• Chat transcripts. Messages you exchange with Solange are stored so the conversation can be restored and so our team can review enquiries. Please do not share sensitive personal information in chat.

We keep this simple. We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use a small amount of browser storage that is necessary for the site to work and to measure our own content:

• A random visitor identifier so analytics events and your chat history line up.
• A flag recording that you have seen the data-use notice, so it stops reappearing.
• Sign-in session storage, if you use the admin or client portal.

Because none of this is advertising or profiling, the notice on the site is an acknowledgement rather than a consent gate. If you would prefer we did not hold data about your visit, clear your browser storage for this site and email us and we will delete anything we hold.

• To pass qualified enquiries to our technical and finance partners, with your knowledge.
• To improve our guides, calculator and site performance.

Our lawful bases are legitimate interests (running and improving a business website and responding to enquiries) and, where you submit an enquiry, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Enquiry details are stored in our CRM and hosting infrastructure, and shared with the installation or finance partner best suited to your project. Chat messages are processed by an AI model provider to generate responses. We do not sell your data.

Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to support your project and for normal business record-keeping. Analytics events and chat transcripts are kept in aggregate or pseudonymous form and reviewed periodically.

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email Quote@SolarBritain.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
